Special highlights of the zoo
First and foremost is the Berberberg - a 1 hectare walk-in facility for Barbary macaques.
Animal children are also always something very special. At the Erfurt Zoo you can expect, among other things: Twins among the Liszt monkeys, a prairie bison calf, a small rhinoceros, two zebra foals, and a young Thuringian forest donkey, a small steppe eagle, four young Bennett's kangaroos various offspring among the cute meerkats, which are among the most popular animals at Erfurt Zoo.
Especially worth seeing is the newly built flamingo lagoon: 30 pink flamingos will enchant you with their grace!
The zoo also has an aquarium. It is located in the giraffe house and has a capacity of 3700 liters and houses the colorful Malawi cichlids.
The Erfurt Zoo is also proud of its ornamental turtles, the Bactrian camel enclosure, the monkey house with six different species of monkeys, the lion residence, the rhino house, the giraffe house and the bison enclosure. This year, a large African savannah will be created for antelopes, zebras and ostriches.

Feeding times (without guarantee)
If you can make it in time, try to be at the appropriate enclosures during feeding times. Here are some of the most popular dates: Barbary macaques: At 11:30 a.m. at Barbary Mountain Meerkats: Around 3:00 p.m. in the lion savannah - either inside or outside enclosure, depending on weather Giraffes: 1:15 p.m. in the giraffe outside enclosure.
Especially for children
Children not only want to look at the animals, they also want to pet them. The Erfurt Zoo has a large petting enclosure with African dwarf goats, where the little ones get their money's worth. Of course, there is also a large adventure playground on the zoo grounds, where your children can let off steam.
You yourself can make good use of the time to have a cup of coffee in peace at the open-air restaurant "Hakuna Matata". At the same time you can keep an eye on your children. Here you can also find hot and cold dishes as well as drinks and ice-cream - which will make the children especially happy! Speaking of gastronomy: During the winter months, the zoo restaurant "Weinberghaus" is open for you. As you can see - the Erfurt Zoo is just ideal for a day trip with the whole family.
