Your personal space in our hotel
Our hotel offers 53 rooms in three different categories and between 18 and 28m² in size. Our interior design is focused on natural colours and materials. Warm tints create a feel-good atmosphere perfect for a holiday.
All rooms in the hotel are equipped with a bathroom (shower, some with bathtub), TV, room safe, and telephone. We have rooms available to be booked as family rooms (some with connecting door). 60 free parking spots are available directly at the hotel.

For your perfect holiday we offer highlights both in- and outside of our hotel. You may spend your day in your cosy room or enjoy one of the many activities Oberhof has to offer. Our library offers ample and comfortable seating as well as desks for a relaxed reading or gaming experience. We do offer a great choice of books from different genres as well as a collection of exciting board games.

Upon arrival in the hotel, each guest receives the Oberhof Card. With this guest card you may use a comprehensive visitor program in Oberhof free of charge. The hotel Dependance Sonnenhügel
Our Dependance Sonnenhügel is located right across from our hotel. The Sonnenhügel was built with a wooden frame construction, which provides a pleasant, warm atmosphere.
The rooms in the house Sonnenhügel are all part of our premium category. They are a bit larger than our premium rooms in the main building. The house itself was newly built in 2006. The rooms in our house Sonnenhügel are favourites for many of our guests.
You enjoy peace and quiet in a private atmosphere. Meals are served in our hotel restaurants in the main building. Of course you may also enjoy the sauna and the swimming pool in the hotel area free of charge. Everything is only 30 meters away.
If you make a reservation for a room in the premium category, we will ask you whether you would like to stay in the Dependance Sonnenhügel or directly in the main building of the Schlossberghotel.
Wellness in the Schlossberghotel Oberhof
Our 200 m² wellness area offers great choice for your relaxation. Right in our hotel, you may make use of the indoor swimming pool, the Finnish sauna, the infrared sauna, and the steam room (each located separately). Should the weather outside lack light, the sun will still be shining in our sun tower (solarium). Spacious relaxation rooms and rooms for spa treatments and massages top off our hotel’s wellness offer.

You are a passionate biker and love the natural park route through the Thuringian forest? Stay with us in Oberhof. In the summer months, we provide garage space for your valuable motorcycles free of charge.

Completely redesigned for you: Our rich breakfast buffet. Our buffet has been given its own little room. You have more space to put together your favourite breakfast. And we were able to significantly increase our food & drink selection.
We have put together the favourite dishes of our guests. So you will find a rich selection of pastries, also gluten-free. A sip of sparkling wine is also always very popular with our guests. Followed by our cheese and sausage assortment. Fresh smoked salmon, sweet pastries and fresh fruit round off the range of bread and rolls. Changing yoghurt varieties, with freshly cut fruit and a large selection of jams from the jam bar offer plenty of variety on the breakfast plate every day.

In this day and age, a holiday in Oberhof stands for an active holiday. The fascinating concentration of top sports facilities offers perfect conditions not only for competitive athletes. During your holiday you can visit the sports facilities, take part in guided walks to the racing toboggan & bobsleigh run, the Oberhof indoor ski slope, the ski arena and the ski jumps.
Or you can try your hand at it yourself. Adrenalin boost included. Take part in biathlon shooting for guests or experience a speedy ride on a bobsleigh. By the way, you can also watch the top athletes and the amazing young talent. Top athletes, from junior to the "A-squad", train every day. A holiday in Oberhof means a holiday in a healthy high-altitude climate. The ridge of the Thuringian Forest was already studied in the late 19th century for its effect on health. The Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha spent a lot of time in its estates in the Thuringian Forest and so did its relatives from the imperial court. Not least the empress's children, who spent some of their childhood at the Oberhof hunting lodge, brought plenty of onlookers to Oberhof. The forest workers' village of Oberhof became a fashionable holiday resort in just a few years.
Due to the seclusion on the mountain at an altitude of around 820 metres and the large forest areas, a microclimate was able to develop over many centuries that has the same restorative qualities as in the Alps at an altitude of over 1,500 metres above sea level. This is how the then well-known doctor Dr. Otto Binswanger once coined the phrase "St. Moritz of the East" around 1905.
Today, Oberhof can look back on an eventful holidaymaker history. Since the time of the first high culture at the beginning of the 20th century, winter sports have also established themselves in Oberhof. Over the decades, today's Olympic base was created.
